Using a double rig is a great way to increase your catch rate, it gives the fish an extra choice, they see 2 nymphs instead of one, often if you fish a beadhead with a regular nymph the flash of the bead acts as an attractor, the fish comes for a look, sees the more realistic imitation and garbs that instead. The beadhead provides the weight to pull the smaller more realistic pattern down to the fish.

Tying the rig. (Dropper) I generally use a Blood Knot but a Surgeon's Knot will work too.

Just leave one tag extra long to which you tie your second fly. One word of warning, check them often as the tippet will break at the knot. I give them a good pull to test to check, and if you are expecting big fish be particularly careful.

Tying them this way they can move more naturally with the currents, tying them inline would be easier but I don't feel they work as well.

It's also easy to get it all tangled up, and the tangles are twice as bad, so again check them regularly, often the first sign of a tangle is a change in the noise of the leader through the air so stop immediately and check it.

Also be extra wary of underwater obstacles when playing fish as the extra nymph invariably garbs onto them! Also be careful when netting your fish as it can catch your net too, which causes problems if the fish isn't also in the net!!

Good luck, it's always fun experimenting with different techniques.
