I tie this fly on a #16 long shank or a #16 short shank
hook, rather than using the #18. That way you have more hooking power with
the larger hook gap!
Bind hook shank with thread, tie in the tail and stripped
peacock herl (strip it by pulling the herl gently between thumb and fore
finger) Then tie in wing post and continue building up the under body to
create the tapered body shape. Apply a little glue to the wing post to give
it more strength and apply some to the body then wind the stripped herl up
the body to in front of the post and tie in.
Tie in your hackle a head of the wing post and wind
around post, bring forward and whip or half hitch to finish, glue head. And
